New games for the Super Nintendo are kind of rare, unlike the Sega Dreamcast and the Neo Geo which seem to never have realized they were discontinued. Some developers are holding true though and releasing new Super Nintendo titles such as Collectorvision. Their upcoming title, Justice Beaver, has just been announced to be headed to Kickstarter to assist with funding for the Super Nintendo version.
Justice Beaver is a side scrolling action platform title that will also be hitting the Nintendo Wii U eShop. The style of Justice Beaver is expected to be familiar for gamers that are prolific in the style of Super Nintendo games, basically colorful graphics, challenging level design and interesting enemies, just to name a few key points.
This is great news for Super Nintendo fans that have sat idly by as the Sega Dreamcast receives new games (some listed here) and the Neo Geo gets one or two (some listed here). The biggest thing I am excited about with Justice Beaver is that it is not a scrolling shooter (though I love them) and is an action platform game. We simply don’t see many of these types of games anymore and it is a shame. This genre used to rule the roost back in the day.
As already mentioned, Collectorvision plans to hit Kickstarter, at a currently unknown date, for crowdfunding assistance on Justice Beaver. This will probably be the first opportunity to pick up a cartridge version (hopefully complete with box and manual). Kickstarter, as most know, is a popular crowdsourcing site that allows fans to throw money at projects they want to see made. With Collectorvision’s track record, I have no qualms about Justice Beaver actually being made if it hits its goal on Kickstarter.
When Justice Beaver is posted to Kickstarter, I will make an update article with the information.
