First person role playing games are something that is close to my heart. While others were enjoying games like Ultima I was rocking out to Wizardry and Alternate Reality. When my friends were enjoying stuff like Zelda III: A Link to the Past I was enjoying the Dungeon Master and Arcana (though I was quite capable of enjoying Zelda III, I wasn’t stupid). Give me a multi-level dungeon crawler played in the first person, preferably with one player character, and I am good for many weekends. It may be time to fire up the Atari computer emulator because there is a new dungeon crawler named Dungeon Hunt that has just received a Gold edition release.
The description for Dungeon Hunt Gold says it all detailing the reference games it is based on such as Dungeon Master and Stonekeep. That is some good reference material, and good company to be in as far as games go. Dungeon Hunt Gold looks to carry its own weight rather well as evidenced by the video below:
There are 12 different dungeons to crawl through, 15 unique death dealing creatures to deal with, multiple weapons to use in Dungeon Hunt Gold. What kind of dungeon crawler would this be without traps? There are plenty of those too for you to figure out how to get around, disable or powerup enough to endure their wrath. The choice is yours.
- Buyers of Dungeon Hunt Gold can look forward to the following:
Deluxe numbered box - Personalized copy of the game
- Brand new 5 ¼ program diskette
- Full colour manual signed by the authours
- Custom keychain/flashlight (to help counter your sudden fear of the dark)
- CD containing a Level Editor and a backup digital version
- Cheat Code (just in case)
Quantities are limited so get your order in quick (through the Atari Age forums)!
