For most adventure game fans will know the name of this LucasArts classic. Unofficially titled Maniac Mansion II, Day of the Tentacle was more of the original but with a much more focused storyline. The original featured your choice of several characters, each bringing different abilities and their own twists to the storyline. Day of the Tentacle only gave players three characters but still shoe horned in quite a few twists and turns that were unexpected, but welcome. Now, a certain fan on the Adventure Game Studio forums is recreating this classic point and click adventure but with some interesting tweaks.
“Feenyx”, the Adventure Game Studio member behind this unofficial remake, is working with their strengths in art as the pictures show. The graphics are being created in Flash then being converted to the AGS format, according to Indie Retro News. The differences are quite apparent. The question is, which do you prefer- original or these remade ones?

Tweaks to the original include changing the interface over to a Sierra On-Line style menu system. Gone are the archaic words “Push”, “Pull”, “Take”, etc. These are replaced with graphic icons of feet (walk), eyes (look) etc. The game is being reworked slightly to accommodate “Use” and the “Hand” commands being combined.
Additionally, there could be achievements, high scores and even a different ending to entice jaded fans to play through one more time. There is also the off chance that there could be a voice pack available for this remake of Day of the Tentacle, Feenyx is looking for people interested in this aspect.

Currently additional members are being sought to help complete this unofficial remake. Details can be found in this Adventure Game Studios thread. According to Retrospekt.com.au the current release period is slated for 2015, nothing specific but still, it is coming. So far, this project has been a solo development process since 2012.

Considering the platforms supported by Adventure Game Studio we can expect to see this remake available on Windows computers.
