Bubble Bobble, the classic Taito arcade title is being ported to the PC-Engine/Turbo Grafx-16 by Retrotaku. Fans may remember Bubbble Bobble in one of its many forms on various platforms starting with the 1986 arcade title release. Taito has been prudent about keeping Bubble Bobble available for platforms as they become popular over the years, most recently with collections containing many of their other arcade titles. Now, fans are taking it upon themselves to port Bubble Bobble to the NEC Turbo Grafx-16/PC-Engine.
It is not all that clear as to what version of Bubble Bobble Retrotaku are porting, presumably the arcade version. We have this single, solitairy screenshot of the game as it is going to appear on the NEC hardware.
Parasol Stars was released on the NEC platform in both Japan and North America. For those that do not know, Parasol Stars is Bubble Bobble 3 according to the subtitle (which other Bubble Bobble game featured this same subtitle?). The original Bubble Bobble did not receive a port to the NEC platform, unfortunately.
The video below is not related to the Retrotaku port of Bubble Bobble, but it is another version of the classic that is being worked on for the PC-Engine/Turbo Grafx-16 platform.
Which version of Bubble Bobble did you enjoy the most?
