The big news item here is that a beta of Conker’s Bad Fur Day “uncut” and a new, early, build of Perfect Dark has been found and released. This event has been made possible by a member of the Assembler Games forums but retro gamers will benefit the most.
Andrew Borman, of the Assembler Games forums, is responsible for releasing these early builds to gamers. Apparently, this is not an altruistic turn of events as Mr. Borman was involved in a community collection to raise money before he would release the files. There is nothing wrong with someone wanting to recoup their costs when trying to do something on this magnitude but it is hard to verify those costs that are claimed. Nonetheless, the community fund raiser reached about $850 of the $2,500 wanted, according to Retro Game Network.
The early builds are available in both NTSC and PAL formats so head over and check them out.
Previous coverage has been mad available for the Perfect Dark beta video being released. This is the first time the actual ROM has been made available for fans to download though.
