Spot Goes to Hollywood was the sequel to the side scrolling action platform title that hit the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis consoles. Spot Goes to Hollywood was scheduled to hit the Super Nintendo and the Sega 32X alongside the Sega Saturn and Sony Playstation versions but well, thanks to the release of the 32-Bit consoles, it never happened. Unfortunately the only 16-Bit version of Spot Goes to Hollywood that surfaced was the Sega Genesis version and the 32X version was canned, presumably late in development.
For those that do not know their marketing history, Spot was the second 7-Up mascot to receive a game (quick, name the other one, anyone?). This was not uncommon in gaming, for a company mascot to get a game, the Noid from Dominoes Pizza had a game on the NES and there have been a few others in the history of gaming. Bragging rights to anyone that can name at least one mascot that received a game.
Spot Goes to Hollywood is an isometric action game (they were fairly popular back in the day) that features levels based on different movie genres. No specific movies were used as reference but gamers got a pirate level, adventure, horror and more style levels. The Playstation and Sega Saturn versions featured quite a bit different level design and better sound effects along with some Full Motion Video (FMV) cutscenes.
The Sega 32X version is expected to be released later this year.
