Snatcher, the cyberpunk adventure title that is sought after by retro collectors the world over, had a preview/demo disk that many don’t even know about. Way back in 1992, 22 year ago today, Konami released a special disk that featured quite a bit of content for the Snatcher fan. This is also a Japanese exclusive that never made it to North America.
What you can expect on the Snatcher Pilot Disk runs the gamut of a demo (the beginning of the full game), a game trailer, game information such as the history and bits about the characters. There is also a picture of two of the game desigenrs and some music from the full game to listen to. Not bad for a demo/preview disk.
For the hardcore Snatcher fan, there is a lot of stuff here that you will want to check out. For the casual fan, check out the original Sega CD version that hit North America, or one of the many fan translations available (I recommend JunkerHQ releases).
We featured Snatcher in the second issue of Retro Gaming Magazine where we covered the MSX version. The Pilot Disk was made available for the PC Engine CD-ROM platform in Japan.
