2D side scrolling titles are making quite a comeback over the last few years. Spuds Quest looks to add another quality title to that list. Now available on Steam, Spuds Quest tells the story of Spud who is tasked with recovering four ancient elemental “essences” to remove a curse that was placed on his family. Coming along for the adventure is Prince Charming, friend of Spud.

There are plenty of calls to other popular titles such as Zelda, Metroid and Castlevania and of course, the classic Dizzy games from the Oliver Twins. Gameplay doesn’t simply consist of running and jumping. There are plenty of other things to do, pulling/pushing blocks to either make a path, unblock a path or to simply get out of the way. There is also a boulder chasing scene that is reminiscent of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom for nostalgic movie buffs.
