Attendees of the Classic Console and Arcade Gaming Show in Cleveland Ohio this weekend were lucky enough to be attending a landmark event. This is the first time in over 20 years that a Turbo Grafx-16 Hu-Card was made available- Atlantean by Aetherbyte Studios. Atlantean is a side scrolling shooter that features rarities on the Turbo Grafx-16 such as parallax scrolling. Atlantean sold out almost immediately.
The cases are created using a 3D printer and it is all assembled by hand. This is the first Hu-Card title released on the NEC console in over 20 years in the United States. The available stock of six Hu-Cards sold out extremely fast, less than a day but an exact time is hard to pinpoint.
Andrew Darovich had this to say about their first Hu-Card release, “We sold out basically immediately, and some people were in complete shock that there was a brand new HuCard game available for purchase. We had a lot of fun showing it off at the CCAG and are looking forward to keeping up with the demand.”
This is not the first, or last, Turbo Grafx-16 title that Aetherbyte have created. Other Turbo Grafx-16 titles in their catalog include Pyramid Plunder (CD-ROM), Insanity (CD-ROM) and Reflectron (Free game).
To get your copy of Atlantean when the next batch becomes available, check out the Aetherbyte Studios website. Liking them on Facebook can’t hurt either as demand is obviously high for this title.
