The Sega Genesis is getting a lot of newfound love lately from indie developers and publishers. One new release is It Came From the Desert: The Action Game. I have known about this release for awhile now but it was only available on Russian auction sites, or questionable legal-wise “repro” sites, as an illegal, unlicensed, reproduction of the game that never came out on the Sega Genesis.
Now, thanks to a recent partnership between Cinemaware and WaterMelon Games, It Came From the Desert: The Action Game will see release later this year around the Holidays. For those that do not know what this game is about, it is not like what we saw on the Turbo Grafx-16 CD-ROM, there is no full motion video (FMV) and the style has changed. Instead of an adventure game with some action scenes mixed in (like Rise of the Dragon for Sega CD/computers), the Sega Genesis version is all action. There is a storyline attached, similar to how Contra Hardcorps had a story interlaced between levels.
