New Game: Resurgence Expansion Coming for Protector SE 12 Years After Release on Atari Jaguar

The Atari Jaguar is not the first console most people would think of when the words “expansion pack” are mentioned. Maybe the 3DO would come to mind (Shockwave) or Sega Genesis (come on, that “Lock On” technology was just an expansion pack) but not the Atari Jaguar. That is not stopping Songbird Productions from doing just that though with an upcoming expansion for their 2002 Atari Jaguar cartridge release, Protetor: SE. This expansion will utilize the CD-ROM attachment and requires the original cartridge game.

“Songbird is excited to announce “Protector: Resurgence” coming for the Jaguar CD in September 2014! “Resurgence” is an expansion CD for your “Protector SE” cartridge, and features 24 new waves, new galaxy and ground graphics, new ship graphic, new enemies, and more. A limited 50-disc run will be made available at CGE in Las Vegas, including some graphics and audio unique to that disc, followed by the general release of the game. Invaders have jammed our newly deployed missile silos, meteor storms strike at will, and scouting reports indicate the deadly Vorton obliterates everything in its path. Will you be the next protector?”

According to Retrogame Network, there will be 50 copies available at this years Classic Gaming Expo (September 12-14). There will be more copies made available at a later time though.
