New Game: Get Fruity Crosses Movie and Gaming Line

Anyone that grew up in gaming from the early days has probably played Tapper, or one of its clones. Even gamers new to the retro world have probably played Tapper or a variation of it. Keep that in mind as you read about Mrs. Brown’s Boys: D’Movie, an Irish production- Irish as in the country of origin and not a clever naming of a production company.

In Ireland there is a comedy show called Mr’s Browns Boys which carries quite a lot of British style humor (if you don’t get it, you won’t get this show). The show tells the tale of an Irish family of misfits who are headed by one Mrs. Agnes Brown. Mrs. Brown has the affliction of being nosy and this sets up a lot of the situations you will see in the show (and upcoming movie that the game was made for). This is not just an Irish version of Mama’s Family or a slant on Married with Children though- you will just have to take the jump and see the clips for yourself.

Now, the game. Get Fruity is an updated version of Tapper for all intents and purposes. Instead of serving beer, root beer or some other drink that can be served in beer mugs, Mrs. Brown serves up fruits and vegetables to customers. As they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Missed opportunities here are mainly around not using sound clips from the show to help build an audience with gamers that have no clue about the show, or upcoming movie. Otherwise, this is a new variation of Tapper for everyone to enjoy.
