Asteroids is one of those classic titles that most retro gamers feel should be a standard release on day one for new consoles. Great games never get old. Since the Nintendo Wii doesn’t have an official Asteroids game, it is left up to indie developers to fill the void. Now up to version 2.8, Newo Asteroids aims to do just that.

For anyone that does not know what Asteroids is about you are tasked with protecting your ship. Sometimes it is the Earth depending on the version but ultimately, your ship does down so do your chances of defending anything. Newo Asteroids is one with the Earth in the middle of the screen as the numero uno target.

Rotate and shoot big asteroids into smaller ones. Continue to rotate and shoot those smaller asteroids till they eventually are space dust and no longer a threat. Pretty simple. The challenge is in how long can you survive?
