How many Spanish developed arcade games can you name off the top of your head? Probably not many, if any at all. There were a few though one of which, Altair, has been ported to the ZX Spectrum by Inmensa Bola de Manteca and it is available now, for free.
Altair is an overhead scrolling shooter from 1981, probably one that many readers have never heard of. If you are a fan of overhead shooters like Galaga, Galaxian and the like then you will be right at home with Altair.
An interesting point to know about Altair is that your ship can lose pieces as it takes damage. Rather than the standard “one hit kill” that most overhead shooters have, Altair allows up to three hits before you lose a life. Pretty cool for such an old shooter.
Altair is available, for free, on Inmensa Bola de Manteca’s website.
