While the original Super Mario Bros has aged really well for a title created so long ago, it is indeed showing its age a bit. The NES only had so much power and Nintendo did their best with what they had at the time. Thanks to fans though, the original Super Mario Bros is now updated with a more modern design.
First up, this is only a visual hack, none of the levels have had any editing done to platforms, enemy placement or powerups. Now that that is out of the way, let’s discuss what you can expect from this hack.
Base largely on the designs from Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo, Super Mario Bros – Modern Classic Edition does have a unique look. Just look at Mario himself for proof of that. This visual hack is not as graphical as what we saw in Super Mario All-Stars (there is no parallax scrolling for instance) but what is here is interesting.
Super Mario Bros is not freeware so we cannot link directly to the game file. We can however link ROMHacking.net for the patch file.
