Everyone that has been around a cell phone since the advent of the iTunes App Store, or Google Play or Amazon App Store, can probably name off at least 10 endless running games right now without hesitation. The problem with these games is, they are so similar to each other that it is amazing people are still playing them. Sure, Temple Run and Temple Run 2 changed things up by going 3D, which has quickly grown old with the clones, but what about retro gamers? Retro Runner is like running through the history of video games, very much quite literally.
Starting out in Retro Runner is pretty simple and serves as a tutorial for the activities ahead. Once you have completed the first level and learned the basics of avoiding enemies, collecting items and attacking/defending you are thrust into what I can only call as an Atari 2600, or maybe Atari 5200, running level that ends with a giant black monster.
Much like Genetos which took gamers through the history of shooting games, Retro Runner does it in a more general sense (not simply focusing on action games). Keep an eye out for cameos and references in this game from Metroid to Zelda to Mario and Pac-Man, no retro game is safe from having something slipped into the five levels available.
