When Sega released the Dreamcast almost 15 years ago, it was a revolutionary system, just gamers weren’t all that interested in supporting Sega after the way the Saturn was turned to pasture. During the short life of the Dreamcast there were more than a few iconic games released, one of which was a port of the arcade racer/delivery game, Crazy Taxi.
On Android, Crazy Taxi is just like it was on Dreamcast- arcade customer delivery, car dodging, and ramp jumping action on the go. This is how ports should be done, controls are great on the JXD S7300 thanks to the physical buttons and screen to key mapping. I would definitely suggest playing this on at least a dual core device.
Back to the actual review now. All of the characters are here, with their unique cabs and characteristics. Pick your favorite and hit the gas. Easy and as it was when you played any other version on other platforms.
Narrowly missing traffic earns tips and doing it multiple times earns even more money. Passengers love jumps and coming EXTREMELY close to other vehicles so make sure to do that as often as possible to maximize your score and move up the ranks quickly.
Sega has been on a roll with their ports and updates over the last couple of years, probably because Android and iOS are finally at an acceptable level. Crazy Taxi is just another quality release in a long line of great games. Virtua Tennis Challenge, Monkey Ball, most of the Sonic games, Sonic 4 Episode 1 and 2 and more all are great releases.
For some, the price of Crazy Taxi will throw them off, trust me, if you were a fan of the game in the past, just get this version. It is cheap when you figure in the fact that you can play on the go (try that with your PS2 or Xbox or Dreamcast).
