It is a gaming fact that Mario and the Super Mario Bros series never got released on the competing Sega Genesis. Why would Nintendo do that? Game hackers, indie programmers, whatever, have done just that though, ported Super Mario Bros 1 to the Sega Genesis and the results are impressive, to say the least.
Using the Super Nintendo Super Mario All-Stars version of SMB 1 as a base, this Genesis version is “close” Obviously the colors are going to be off a bit but some of the choices are just wild and will make you go “huh?”
Mario with the firepower power-up is yellow and apparently you can now jump on the plants that pop up out of the pipes (something that would result in a downgrade and possibly death normally). The speed of the game is off too- this is probably programmed as a PAL game and ported to NTSC systems.

Since the only places that currently have this ROM available are hosting commercial games illegally, we cannot link to any site that has this game available.
