Everyone knows that Lego Batman never came out on the Sega Genesis. The problem is, no one told some Russian hackers who created it and it is now available on Ebay.co.uk, right now (well, less than a day left). From the video embedded, it looks “alright”, about on par for these types of hacks. The interesting thing is, not only is there a cartridge made for this but the box too.
The title screen is interesting and, well, pretty decent. The gameplay looks weird because whenever Batman attacks, he flickers like an 8-Bit Nintendo game trying to do too much onscreen at once. The weirder thing is, it doesn’t happen all of the time, at least in the video.
The levels look like they are created with Lego pieces, which helps keep the motif going. Some objects like trees and pillars are in the background while others are in the foreground. Nice touch to add some depth.
Batman’s jump is unique, no matter if he is falling a long way or simply jumping from platform to platform, he faces the player and puts his arms out. This looks cool when falling long distances, not so much just jumping to collect Lego pieces that are slight above his head.
Had the animation been improved, this would have been quite a cool indie release.
Want it? Grab it off of Ebay.co.uk while you still can, if you are too late, you can see what it went for.
