Red Goddess is currently on Kickstarter and looking for funding, if you enjoy 2.5D action adventures then you will definitely want to check this game out. Levels will be “Metroidvania” affairs, unique implementation of puzzles and a planet that is literally fighting you. What more could you want?
The reason for the planet being upset at you is that it is actually the emodiment of the consciousness of a goddess named Divine. See, Divine has been sick and her judgement has been cloudy. Rather than seeing the doctor to the gods, Divine decides to delve into her psyche and fix the problems as she goes on a journey of self discovery. This takes the cake as far as wild back stories that give reason for the festivities.
Puzzle chambers are an interesting thing that Red Goddess will have to help break things up. These are activated by possessing various enemies and will present unique challenges and rewards. This is an interesting idea and one I would personally like to see more of as it opens a lot of doors for new content delivery.
Back to the “planet” that you are “on”. This thing doesn’t specifically know where you are at any given time. It does find you through “eyes” enemies that are scattered all about. When you are spotted by these special enemies, your alarm bar fills. When that bar is full get ready because all hell is about to break loose in your area. The planet will react differently depending on where you are at and if you are in the “darkest zones” where things are a little more hairy. Again, interesting game mechanic that could rock.
Yanim Studio is not new to gaming, having worked on titles such as Gothic, Deadlight, Wanted Weapons of Fate and Rime (a PS4 title). Yanim Studio is best known for their animation work and now they are expanding into making their own games. If you want to help them make the transition and to complete Red Goddess, hit up their Kickstarter and check out the rewards, videos, concept art and more available.
