For just about any gamer that was a gamer when Super Mario 64 hit on the Nintendo 64, it was a seminal time. A moment that made the N64 a must by, on day one, system. Nintendo played this release perfectly and looking back, sales prove this was masterfully pulled off as it was a 1:1 ratio of N64 versus Super Mario 64 cartridge sales for the early going.
A fan, Aryoksini on Youtube, has posted a gameplay video of what is being called Super Mario 64 Fan Remake using the Blender Game Engine. This is a tech demo of sorts and is not intended to be a full on game, at least as far as I know right now. It is hard to not say that this looks pretty freaking sweet, I mean, check the video out. For those on low bandwidth or fighting data caps that keep biting you in the butt, I have pulled a couple of frames from the video.
As this develops, we will update everyone. Suffice to say, this is interesting to say the least. Thanks to Retrospekt for the heads up.
