One of a kind, rare, games are something special. They garner a lot of news coverage, lots of words written in their honor and if it is the right game, can cause quite a stir within the gaming community (such as Toejam and Earl 3 on the Dreamcast). While Chuck Yeager’s Fighter Combat was recently available in cartridge form, the people behind that release promised to release the ROM, for free, once the limited print run was sold out. They kept that promise.
While hardly worth looking at when compared to today’s games, Chuck Yeager’s Fighter Combat is still impressive considering the hardware it was programmed for. Featuring voice synthesis of Chuck Yeager himself, impressive graphics and a sense of flight are just a few of the hallmarks of this game.
