Silent Hill is one of those titles that became popular with the advent of the PSOne and was not available on anything prior to that console. Till now. Silent Hill was a gamble of sorts for Konami as everyone back then were trying new things with the 32-Bit system rathe than giving players more of what popularized gaming in the first place. For Konami, that worked.
A new take on horror titles was what Silent Hill represented and fans lapped it up with little concern of it being a new series (we thought for sure it was going to be a one off). Now, home coders have ported the Game Boy Advance visual novel to the Sega Genesis and translated it into English along the way.
What is a visual novel? Visual Novels are basically still images, sometimes with a little bit of animation, with text on the bottom of the screen (early computer games used this style but it was not called “visual novel” at the time). If you have played the classic Sega CD title, Snatcher then you have played a visual novel.
